The Tribal trend is about a bohemian, relaxed style of living but with a clean, modern edge. Incorporate bright African and Latin colours or play it simple and use only black, natural and white.
Tribal modern can be used in part or embraced in its entirety. In other words combine a few elements such as cushions, rugs or ethnic art with existing décor or go the whole hog and change your look completely!
Although it is not the grungy, hippy 70’s revisited, Tribal modern can be mixed with other styles such as 70’s rattan furniture or 50’s s retro furniture in black, natural or grey shades with hints of bright, zingy colour appearing in accent cushions and throws. Kilim rugs in neutral or bright shades, Aztec prints featuring on curtains, throws & cushions.
Be adventurous with colour and texture, combine strong colour, such as Indigo, teal, orange, or red with other textured neutrals. Decorated with wall art depicting tribal African prints or modern abstracts. African tribal art of all kinds is a big influence including rustic, simple pottery, wooden tribal carvings, and intricate macramé wall décor as well as beautifully bright geometric pattern and prints. Use the occasional sheepskin or hide on floor and furniture and accessorize with unusual shaped craft pieces in unrefined materials. Include any artisan objects brought back from your travels and create this beautiful, and very individual look in your home!
