HKliving
Emiel Hetsen and Sander Klaver founded HKliving, a Dutch interior brand. They created the brand name by combining the initials of their last names. The winning formula of a creative mind and a mathematical brain led to the creation of inspired product collections. Above all focusing on traditional and useable designs, whilst maintaining a modern look.
During the designing process, the focus was on honouring the original style/influence and creating accessible items simultaneously. In 2002, Emiel Hetsen, one of the founders, worked as a professional antique buyer, searching the world for unique and beautiful pieces. He breathed new life into these items by incorporating them into beautiful projects all over Europe. In 2008 the demand for vintage furniture and lighting peaked, Emiel sought alternatives to provide larger quantities and more options to his customer base. He enlisted the help of his childhood friend Sander Klaver, who worked in the international trade business, to set up production of several items in Asia.
This collaboration led to the establishment of HKliving, which achieved immediate success. Within the first year, their first collection, consisting of only 28 products, was sold in 12 countries globally. The headquarters of HKliving are located in Dronten, Netherlands, which also serves as their main warehouse. Their collections are now available in 70 countries, truly reflecting their global presence.
