Asta Barrington
Asta Barrington is a British surface pattern designer/artist based in Bath, South West England. Asta creates digital artwork for various end uses. Her designs are licensed to other companies to print on their products and she also illustrates Art Prints and design seamless repeat patterns for her Spoonflower shop.
She draws digitally using both the Procreate App on her iPad Pro with an Apple Pencil and Adobe Photoshop to create high resolution layered raster artwork files that are fully editable. Designing seamless repeat patterns, spot illustrations and patterns engineered to fit manufacturers’ artwork templates.
Asta's drawings are often complex, layered and colourful and her style is always evolving. She has a love of risograph printing, coloured glass, vintage printed ephemera/typography, antique textiles, flea markets and the sea. Her mother was Danish so her Scandinavian heritage also plays a strong part in the design aesthetic.
